SDSU CATERING

I had the opportunity to work on the SDSU campus in their catering department for about five months. Coming from the food and beverage background at Panera Bread, I thought I knew a lot. However, I was completely wrong and learned a tremendous amount of information. Some of the events that we catered were ranging from music concerts at Viejas Arena and Cal Coast Open Air Theatre with all the hospitality suites, dressing rooms, and staff offices. To even basic corporate meetings, a wedding, student organization meetings/events, to a private function at the Palomar Observatory. The list varied so much.

Growing up I had aspirations to be a chef when I got older, so being around food and beverage made me feel like I was home. Hence, why I continued in the food and beverage field. I am so grateful for the opportunities that were provided to me including being offered to be the administrative assistant to the office. In that position I would handle all transactions for orders dealing with payment and invoicing to answering the phones. Learning the other side of the business helped broaden my knowledge. This is gave me a deep consideration in pursing a career after graduation within the catering and food and beverage field of hospitality.
