From the moment I graduated High School back in 2010, I knew I wanted to attend San Diego State University, but the major was a different story. However, my journey wasn’t so easy. In Fall 2010, I attended Palomar Community College which is located in San Marcos, CA, due to me not being accepted into SDSU first try. So instead I went to community college and studied as an undeclared major for a bit. At this point, I didn’t know what career path was right for me. Fast forward four years later and attending Mira Costa College and working in two different positions, I got accepted to attend San Diego State University in the Fall of 2014 as an Hospitality and Tourism Management Major. I began my courses that fall, and all I can say is what opportunities and journey I have embarked on in the past two and half years and now graduating in the Fall of 2016. Finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel that I have been waiting so long, 7 years to be exact to be handed a piece of paper that includes a Bachelor’s of Science. Being the first person in my family to graduate from a University and embark in the industry of Hospitality.

I have put together a website (http://teylapitassi.wixsite.com/leadership), showing my journey in a unique perspective according to the leadership opportunities I have encountered. The amazing opportunities I was able to partake in for example, from studying abroad in Australia and to being able to attend conferences like IMEX. In this short amount of time, realizing that so many things have been accomplished and the journey I have taken. Ultimately, allowing myself to become a better person and leader to others, and overall a new an improved version of myself. Growing up in Ventura, CA, being surrounded by the ocean and beach vibe that embraced my childhood. Being the type of person that loves the outdoors and scenery just as much as talking to others. Since I am being to see the final light of my college career at the end of the tunnel, but my love for the environment and explore my surrounding will not leave or change, but rather embark on a new journey. So having the barrel of a wave be my tunnel and the sunset be the light, it reminds me that I grew up loving the water and to live each day to the fullest. We are only granted so much time in our lives, so making each second worth wild and meaningful is most important. So as I end my last semester in 2 weeks, the opportunities and doors that have been opened have changed my life in one way or another.

Within the website, it will talk about the following areas:

My Print Scores and HTM 301 Simulations under the “Coursework” tab, San Diego Convention Center, SDSU Catering, Hyatt, and Panera Bread under the “Work Experience” tab, IMEX, NSMH, and MESA under the “Industry Connection” tab, holding positions as membership director, student advisor and as a TA under “ Leading in Action” tab, my 7 year journey and the process of choosing a major and the difficult process of finding the dream career after graduation under “Promising Pitfall” tab, and lastly under the “More” tab you can see my study abroad experience and a link to this current blog.
