Summary of a Informative End

After 14 weeks in the Leadership/ Self Development in Hospitality Course, has been expressed through the blog posts. The main theme of the blog and the material in it demonstrates that you need to look at new ideas, thoughts, theories, or events in a new perspective. It is called the “Eye of Leadership” because it takes an eye to look at things differently and read between the lines rather than falling in the trap of being narrow minded or a deer in headlights. Being able to look at everyday situations, to old theories and concepts to even what is a leader and how it is defined, and most importantly relate it back to my journey. This class and more specifically this blog has allowed me to take the topics we learn in the classroom and analyze and reflect it to our lives by expressing in a blog post. It has made me look at things differently, for example with knowing there are different types of leaders out in the world today. This includes if one is more task or people orientated to what level 5 leadership is. Or, even if it is believing that one is born to be a leader or one that is taught or acquired through their upbringing. No case is the same and that is what makes everyone unique to one another, including personalities. It has taught me to step back and analyze a situation rather than jump in and try to solve the problem because one solution might fix one aspect but then cause another or even not even work for every employee/ staff member.

I have come to find out as I am nearing my college career is that I truly enjoy training. I posted a blog in the beginning of the semester about the importance of being the mentee or mentor and how it impacts one’s life and I didn’t realize that was a kick off point to what I really enjoy and want to pursue later in my career. One post can take an impact in another person’s life or even yourself down the road. One just needs to write to find out it will or not. It is all about looking at it in a new perspective.
