Background of Hawaii Five-O:
It is a action crime scene show on CBS, that is similar in style with NCIS.
Steve McGarrett comes to Hawaii to find his father's killer after his death. Shortly after the Governor offers his own task force, and he accepts. Team Members that he adds along the way, include, Danny Williams, the head detective on his father's case, Chin Ho Kelly, a former HPD Detective who was fired for accused corruption and McGarrett's father's old patrol partner, Kono Kalakaua, a Cadet at the Police Academy who's 1 week from graduating, and Captain Lou Grover, a former Chicago PD Head of SWAT.
Steve McGarrett is the main leader compared to the other characters. He has a certain leadership style that represents Theory Y. He demonstrates a style where he is able to confidently make decision, due to some of these decisions affect the lives of individuals.
Danny Williams demonstrates a leadership style that is more on the people orientated side (high) than task orientated (low). This is because he cares more about the individuals in his life, like his daughter and team members a little more than the task at hand. His temper will flare and he gets annoyed pretty quickly.
Kono demonstrates a leadership style that has High task orientated and High people orientated. She really cares about her team members and her cousin Chin that is on the task force with her. However when she is given an assignment she is highly motivated to take down the killer and obtain all the facts proceeding action. She is a very motivated on any task.
Chin Ho demonstrates a leadership style that represents a participative (democratic) decision making style. At any task or situation he is placed into he is able to delegate tasks and get the situation done while maintain the level of leadership that allows for other members to create solutions and provide input and ideas. This is critical within the Hawaii Five-O department to solve multiple of crime scene cases.
Each member of the team has their own leadership styles and attributes that make them who they are but are very unique to one another. It is interesting to see from a political justice system and compare it to hospitality that leadership still is the same no matter what industry one might come from. The team is very supportive of one another and consider one another family. This is mostly shown with the people orientated skills but they are still able to catch the culprit and make it a successful case.
Looking at leadership in new industries or in this case a tv show will provide examples of the different leadership styles present in the world. It is just a new way at looking at things.
